What do Shadow Springbok look like:

Shadow Springbok have a mixed black or brown and white mixed coat...similar to a piebald whitetail deer or horse. They have a white face, and they have a skin fold on the back that is usually closed, but when they become excited, it thrusts open fanning stiff black hair. Both sexes have a pair of short black horns that are around 11-17 inches long.

Shadow Springbok Habitat:

The habitat of a shadow Springbok is essentially the same as a common Springbok. They are adapted to a variety of environments including arid regions and grasslands. They are normally found in areas with much vegetation, and they can cover long distances in search of food and water.  They are mainly found on concessions and farms in South Africa.

Shadow Springbok Distribution:

Shadow Springboks range include mainly the dry areas of south and southwestern Africa, and are found in the central and western parts of South Africa.

Shadow Springbok Behavior:

Shadow Springboks are known for their stiff-legged leaps when excited or frightened. This is known as pronking. Breeding season takes place in October and November, and females have produce one offspring at a time.

Shadow Springbok Conservation status:

Shadow Springboks are subject to the same conservation concerns as common Springboks, including habitat loss and potential competition with livestock for resources.
