The Klipspringer typically run in pairs on rocky outcrops in our mountain concessions. Where you see one Klipspringer, you will find at least one more. These Klipspringer which we hunt on our South Africa Concession are the biggest in the World
Klipspringers are small antelope species found in eastern and southern Africa.
What do Klipspringers look like:
Klipspringers are small, stocky gazelles that weigh only 20-40 pounds. The females are slightly larger than the males. The fur looks grizzled, with hairs ranging from gray to brown, yellow, and green. Both males and females have short, spiky horns.
Klipspringer Habitat:
Klipspringers are adapted to rocky habitats, like mountainous and hilly areas. They are very skilled in navigating through steep terrain.
Klipspringer Diet:
They are herbivores, feeding on fruits and flowers, leaves, buds, stems, succulents, forbs, and even lichen.
Klipspringer Behavior:
Klipspringers are very solitary animals, but can be found in pairs. They are known for their agility and impressive leaps between rocks. This makes them a difficult target for their predators, such as leopards, eagles, and other large carnivores. They aren’t very active in the middle of the day, but are during the morning and evening.
Klipspringer Reproduction:
A female klipspringer will give birth to a single offspring, known as a kid. Their gestation period is around six months.
