Africa Hunt Lodge now offers a 3-Day Shore Fishing Excursion in Henties Bay, Namibia, designed as an easy and unforgettable add-on to the end of your safari.

After days in the African bush, trade rifles for surf rods and spend three full days fishing the legendary Namibian coastline. From early mornings on the beach to afternoon drinks back at the house, this trip is built around good fishing, great scenery, and a relaxed atmosphere.

For many of our clients, it is the perfect way to finish an African adventure.

Henties Bay sits along Namibia’s dramatic Atlantic coastline, where the desert meets the ocean.

The region is well known for productive shore fishing and long stretches of open coastline. Depending on the conditions and season, anglers may encounter species such as:

Other coastal species

Each day, we move along the coast based on tides, conditions, and the latest fishing reports.

Most guests add this trip directly onto the end of their Africa Hunt Lodge hunting safari.

A typical itinerary has clients fly from Johannesburg to Walvis Bay on the final day of their safari, spend four nights in Henties Bay, and then return to Johannesburg on Day 5 for their international departure or onward travel.

Visa requirements and costs depend on nationality and should be confirmed before travel.

Day 1 – Arrive in Namibia

Fly into Walvis Bay, Namibia, where we will meet you at the airport.

From there, we travel north along the coast to Henties Bay.

Once we arrive, we will:

Check into the house
Obtain your fishing licenses
Pick up groceries and drinks for the trip
Prepare fishing rods and equipment
Organize bait and tackle
Review the plan for the following morning

Then it is time to relax, settle in, and get ready for three full days on the coast.

Day 2 – Full Day of Shore Fishing

6:00 AM – Coffee & Light Breakfast

We leave early and head for the beach.

Fishing begins around sunrise and typically continues until approximately 4:30 PM.

Our local guide will select fishing areas based on:

Tide
Weather
Sea conditions
Recent fishing reports
Target species

After fishing, we return to Henties Bay for:

Afternoon cocktails and refreshments
Snacks
Fish cleaning
Washing down the truck
Cleaning and preparing rods and tackle
Dinner and relaxation

Day 3 – Full Day of Shore Fishing

Another early start.

Coffee, breakfast, and then back to the coast for a full day of fishing.

Depending on conditions, we may move several times during the day to different stretches of beach looking for productive water.

Return to Henties Bay in the late afternoon for drinks, fish cleaning, and dinner.

Day 4 – Final Fishing Day

Our third full fishing day.

By this point, everyone normally has a favorite fishing spot, a little friendly competition has developed, and the stories have gotten better.

We fish from sunrise until approximately 4:30 PM before returning to Henties Bay for one final evening together.

Day 5 – Departure

After breakfast, we transfer you back to Walvis Bay Airport for your return flight to Johannesburg or another destination.

Most clients will connect back through Johannesburg for their international flight home.

Fishing Gear

There is no need to bring surf rods, reels, or bulky fishing equipment from the United States.

We provide the fishing equipment, standard terminal tackle, and bait needed for the trip.

If you have a favorite reel, lure, or piece of equipment that you prefer to use, you are of course welcome to bring it.

Fishing Guides / Gillies

We utilize experienced local fishing guides who understand the Henties Bay coastline and know how to read the tides, weather, and beaches.

They assist with:

Selecting fishing locations
Bait preparation
Casting techniques
Rigging
Landing fish
Fish care
Daily equipment setup

Whether you are an experienced surf angler or have never fished from an African beach before, we will help make the experience comfortable and enjoyable.

A Great Trip for Non-Hunters Too

You do not have to be a hunter to enjoy this excursion.

Spouses, friends, and family members are welcome to join the Namibia fishing adventure.

Even guests who do not fish every hour of the day will enjoy the incredible coastline, relaxed atmosphere, and completely different scenery from the South African bush.

It allows you to experience two very different parts of Southern Africa during the same trip.

One week you may be hunting Kudu, Sable, or Cape Buffalo in the Waterberg Mountains.

A few days later, you can be standing on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean casting into the surf along the Namibian coast.

We have been traveling to Henties Bay with staff for the past several seasons, and it quickly became one of our favorite annual trips.

Getting There

Airlink currently offers nonstop service between Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport and Walvis Bay.

Typical flight time is approximately 2½ hours, and round-trip airfare often falls in the range of roughly $400–$550 USD per person, depending on travel dates and availability.

Airfare is not included in the fishing package because airline pricing can vary.

Africa Hunt Lodge can assist with coordinating your safari departure, airport transfer, and Namibia travel schedule so the fishing excursion flows directly from the end of your South African safari.
